The breakdown bible

I personally used to feel intimidated when I attended a breakdown on an S or Y plan system, open up the wiring centre and see all the cables and from speaking out across my social media platforms I soon realised I wasn't the only one, in fact I was actually part of the majority and for that reason I continue to make my platforms a safe space for people to admit they're not confident with heating wiring and somewhere to come to when they would like to improve. 

After speaking to a fair few sparkies about heating wiring I became even more confused, I didn't understand their terminology and Is struggled to read wiring diagrams so I decided the best way to learn was to build my own wiring board and learn for myself. I built a board capable of housing an S plan and Y plan system including hard wired room stats nd cylinder stats being fed from a twin channel programmer. Being able to explore this heating system from the comfort of my own home without customers or engineers looking over my shoulder judging me was the best learning environment and I soon worked out that the best way to learn this system was to learn each sequence in turn and to do this I started noting it down onto paper.

After making notes on the individual sequences of operation on both S and Y plan systems I then used this to build 'fault finding flow charts' which I used over the space of months to make sure they worked in the real world and to discover any problems that may occur. I then took the leap and had this professionally printed on military grade water resistant paper to give it the best chance to withstand the test of time out there on the job. The Breakdown Bible has now reached thousands of engineers and the feedback from these are incredible. It's built for apprentices all the way through to seasoned engineers that just need a little reminder on a breakdown. This handy A4 sized book is a great addition to anyone stepping into the world of breakdowns. 

I still create videos using the Breakdown Bible to help other engineers gain the confidence and knowledge to diagnose faults and get the customer back up and running.
